Things done today: New valve cover gaskets (silicone). Thermostat. Heater valve.

there was no thermostat in the car:
Now there is. And it works.
As for the heater valve, getting the old one out was such a PITA I didn’t bother getting any photos. And then the control wire didn’t fit on the valve side of the thing, so I just left it off. The upside is the heater doesn’t blow warm air when switched off now, which is why I needed to get the new valve in before we start getting 105F days in Texas.

It’s nice to see that they make silicone gaskets for this application. Was expecting cork.

Yeah I replaced the cork gaskets when I did the valve adjustments and the gasket was leaking like crazy after only a couple months. So I found these.

Yeash, it’s been pleasant. Gives me a chance to take some scenic photographs before everything burns up.
